Recently U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson (3rd Dist.-Texas) toured recognized green business, Hie Electronics, in McKinney. Hie Electronics employs 35 people. During the visit, Johnson viewed the TeraStack Solution, a 50 terabyte "green" optical data storage device. Johnson praised Hie Electronics for the recent placement of a TeraStack Solution at Keesler Air Force Base to be used for traumatic brain injury scan storage. The TeraStack Solution offers efficient and clean data storage without tapes or hard drives which are discarded to landfills. The TeraStack Solution reduces the amount of heat generated by and released into the atmosphere by about ten times conventional data storage, reducing global warming. The TeraStack Solution reduces an organization's data storage energy consumption (or carbon footprint) by as much as 90%. Johnson represents portions of Dallas and Collin Counties.
